Junior Church
Weston Methodist has a thriving Junior Church section.
Every Sunday after staying in the main service for two hymns and a short piece from the preacher we all go downstairs to sing a few songs all together before going off to our small groups.
Each group is led by one or two voluntary leaders and is based loosely around the Methodist Roots magazine for activities for children and young people. In Junior Church there are 5 groups, based on age.
They are as follows:
Crèche (Under 3s)
In the Crèche there's soft toys to play with
Ducklings (3 to 5 years old)
Ducklings colour in pictures, draw and pray to Jesus
Primary (Ages 6 and 7)
Primary class read the Bible and talk about Jesus
Juniors (Junior school age)
Juniors read Bible stories and then do activities such as acting them out
Seniors (Senior school age)
Seniors discuss both the Bible and contemporary issues
One Sunday every month the Junior Church stay upstairs for an All Age Worship service, which is suitable for everyone.
The Junior Church plays an active role in the life of the church: providing banners for christenings; leading the Advent and Lent liturgies; playing percussion instruments during appropriate songs and every year performing an original Nativity play.
We also go to Barton Camp for a week every summer, which is excellent fun.
